Teachings and Initiation of Takla Mebar - Deity of the Flaming Tiger Deep Healing Practice of the Yungdrung Bon Tradition

On September 5-6, Chaphur Rinpoche will give teachings and initiation of Takla Mebar - a deep healing practice of the Yungdrung Bon tradition.

The Takla Mebar initiation is a deep tantric transmission in the Tibetan Yungdrung Bon tradition. Buddha Tönpa Shenraba Miwo manifested as Takla Mebar (Blazing Tiger Deity) to overcome negative forces and the personal negative emotions and obstacles that cause them. He subdued the negative forces and through his compassionate wisdom, transformed them into compassionate and peaceful beings.

This practice helps clear negative energies, overcome fears and develop inner healing power. Its essence is also to transform negative emotions into the clarity of the five wisdoms and positive aspects. The inner negativities are transformed into the transparency of the Five Wisdoms: the wisdom of emptiness, the wisdom of a mirror, the wisdom of equality, the wisdom of discrimination, and the wisdom of all-achieving.

Although the traditional practice of Takla Mebar is extensive and includes many ritual elements, Rinpoche will present the initiation and healing practice in a simplified form, making it accessible and easy to perform for everyone.

After receiving the initiation, participants will be able to incorporate the Takla Mebar practice into their daily practice and benefit from its beneficial effects.

Chaphur Rinpoche

He is the founder and spiritual leader of the Gyalshen Institute, which he established in El Cerrito (near Berkeley), California. The mission of the Institute is to preserve and disseminate the culture and traditions of Tibet, as well as their older source - the ancient kingdom of Zhang Zhung. Chaphur Rinpoche is involved in numerous projects and travels extensively, teaching, explaining and disseminating the spiritual practices of the Bön tradition. His teachings are based exclusively on Bön's sacred texts, which he and his organization actively translate to make them available to a wider audience around the world.

Chaphur Rinpoche was born in Ngaba, in the Amdo region of eastern Tibet. He comes from the Chaphur family - one of the oldest and most important lineages in Tibet and one of the six main lines in the Amdo region, whose subsequent incarnations are associated with the Nangzhig Monastery.

At the age of 16, in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions, Chaphur Rinpoche left Tibet. For many days he traveled on foot through Tibet, Nepal and India to begin his studies at the Bön Dialectical School at the Menri Monastery. It is a major monastery of the Bön tradition in exile, located in Dolanji, India. In 2006, the Tibetan Library in Dharamshala honored Chaphur Rinpoche with the title of Monk and Scholar of Science in recognition of his extensive comparative research on Western and Tibetan cosmology.

In 2008, after fifteen years of study, he successfully passed his final exams and received the title of Geshe at the Menri Monastery - the highest academic degree in the Bön tradition, often compared in the West to a doctorate (PhD). Chaphur Rinpoche's special specialty and talent is the art of calligraphy. He achieved a master level in it, studying under the guidance of His Eminence Bön-Gya Rinpoche from the Bön-Gya Monastery in the Amdo region.
