Learning to Play Shamanic Frame Drums. Natura Rytmu and the Technology of Trance

A certified weekend workshop on the shamanic drum – a hand-held frame drum. The aim is to learn traditional rhythms and basic playing techniques and to truly feel the pulse, trance and sound of the drum. Beginners learn the basics; those who have played before learn new techniques and compositions.

Who it is for

For lovers of shamanism and tribal rhythms, music therapists, coaches and trainers, people who use the drum in sessions and workshops, and anyone who wants to learn to play from scratch.

Programme

• holding the drum, playing with fingers and a beater, rhythm basics

• traditional rhythms and improvisation practice

• somatic practices with breath and movement

• knowledge of trance cultures

• a shamanic jam session in a circle by the fire

Facilitators

Xenia Uranova – musician, artist and educator, founder of Natura Rytmu (Takita), Poland's first school of frame drumming; for over a decade she has taught drumming workshops using her own method, including for complete beginners.

Practical information

Dates: 6–8 November 2026 – starts Friday at 18:00 with dinner, ends Sunday at 14:00 with lunch. Venue: Tu i Teraz centre in Nowe Kawkowo. Registration by e-mail to the Tu i Teraz centre (name, phone, date and title of the event); after confirmation a deposit is paid within 7 days. The remaining accommodation fee is paid in cash on arrival.
