Finding what you need

The menu groups the portal by what you are looking for: Events; Community (people, organisations, online groups, places, shops, professional services, announcements and deals); Reading room (news, publications, reviews and images); Entertainment; and Account. Add, at the top, collects every way to contribute.

Selected country in the menu changes the order of lists, not what they contain. International content and your country come first, then nearby countries. Everything else waits in collapsed country panels further down.

Tip: Your browser remembers the country only if you allow Preferences in Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

The Search box under the country selector searches events, people and organisations, places, shops, news and publications, announcements, promotions and reviews at once. The results page shows a few matches of each type. Use see all or the type filter for the full list, and the country filter to narrow it.

• On a computer, filters sit in the side column. On a phone, the Filters button opens them full-screen, and the button at the bottom shows how many results you will get.
• Active filters appear as chips above the results. Remove one with its ×, or clear them all.
• Filters are part of the page address. Copy it from the address bar to share exactly what you see.
• If you allow Preferences cookies, each list remembers your last filters.

Lists of dated things, such as events, show what is still ahead. To see past items, choose that in the time filter.

Most lists offer Tiles (the default) and List. Events, places and people also have a Map, and events and shops a denser Compact view. Every view shows the same results with the same filters, so switching loses nothing.

On Events you can search by distance from where you are. Your browser asks first, and your location is used only for that search.
